In 2006 the U.S. Government is warning Americans to prepare for the pandemic flu.
The current threat seems to be the possible mutation of the deadly bird flu into an airborne virus that can be transmitted person to person.
In May, 2006, the Bird Flu appears to be transmitted from bird to bird and from bird to human only.
"Officials recommend that citizens stockpile enough food, water and medicine to last at least five days. They advise that Americans educate themselves on how to survive the spread of a pandemic flu."
